The Washington Times owner's paranormal research
Attention Thomas Pynchon fans: I'm going to take a short break from politics and nuclear submarines to explore Reverend Moon's interest in funding the paranormal, via his foundation W.R.I.S.T. (The World Research Institute for Science and Technology). So we're going to briefly switch gears from John Edwards territory to John Edward territory, so to speak. As you already know from his full-page newspaper ads and 3/23/04 Dirksen Senate Office Building speech, Moon says he speaks to dead U.S. presidents and former religious leaders, so this shouldn't be too much of a stretch.
In keeping with his fascination and fortune, there have long been rumors that Moon, owner of the Washington Times and UPI wire service, has assigned his W.R.I.S.T. the formidable task of building a "spirit world machine" that would talk to the dead.
Well, I've been on an e-mail list for a while now, dedicated to the project (its mission statement is here: "The technician2 e-group is a UC-members only support group for the spirit world machine project which True Parents commissioned"). And I must report that not much progress has been made. Not that Reverend Moon has much of a theoretical background in higher-level physics, but the list features much discussion of how particle states relate to the insights in Moon's Principle. And there's the usual paranormal talk about supposedly mysterious spots of light appearing in photos. One contributor even proposes that they could eventually build a USB-compatible device suitable for home computers. But they seem to be a long ways off, to say the least.
In a recent post to the list, group member Peter Nordquist said he received a heartening note from W.R.I.S.T.'s head guy, a Mr. Park (perhaps Col. Bo Hi Pak), after submitting a recent letter to the Albany Post-Star, alluding to the subject of quantum states and Moon's True Family values.
Peter: It was well written...congratulations....Your one letter does more than thousands of preaching in the churches. God's words are simple and available to all via Peter Nordquist.
Please keep it up.
[In response to letter below:]
Subject:Quantum Family/Quantum Mechanics Unifies Science and Religion Date:7/25/2004 7:50:21 AM Eastern Standard Time
Dear Editor,
[...] Relationships on all levels of the family, society, nation and world need to enter a quantum state in order to be protected, prosper and develop in the direction of goodness. We might call this the theory of the family as a quantum system with the expectation that a definition of the family grounded in Quantum Mechanics will resolve the social problems caused by family breakdown and help to systematize our understanding of what a family is and how it is supposed to work.
Many other messages confirm the fascination among some members:
Subject: Electronics training
Does anyone have electronics training to the point they could guide, or direct the production of a board designed to communicate with sp w [Spirit World]?
Sorry I've been away from the group for a while. I'm just catching up...
I found out today that it isn't necessary to go to CPL [Cheong Pyeong Lake] to liberate somebody. That somebody going there can do it for you, if you just give them the money to do so (US$120 per person to be liberated)
Apparently, there is no national database that everyone can access, to check but that each country should know which of their nationals has been liberated. For example, if you wanted to know if Albert Einstein has been liberated, then you'd need to check with the German HQ
Do we have a list of engineers and technical people in the spirit world, who have been liberated and can help with this project?
Members declined my repeated requests for information on the project's budget.
