Rabbi Who
Who is Mordechai Waldman?
At the Mar. 23 Dirksen Senate Office Building event, the above gentleman blew a shofar, or ram's horn, and asked, perhaps rhetorically, "Is it time for the Messiah to come?" before Sun Myung Moon took the stage.
The above fellow phoned into "Radio Times" today from Detroit when I was on. He made the very reasonable (if retro-1986) claim that if we don't seek world peace, "we'll blow ourselves up." Unless I'm mistaken, he signed off by saying that "Abraham is the True Father." I'm not aware of many Orthodox rabbis who put things like that. And I'm not aware that Rabbi Mordechai Waldman (referred to only as "Rabbi W." in Unification Church articles), who appeared at the event on behalf of Jews everywhere, is for real. He's identified nowhere on the Web, which is unusual for such a prominent Jewish spokesman. Who is he?
This is why I love this stuff -- not, as a livid reader wrote in today, because I'd like to see anyone "crucified," but because it's all so bizarre.
